Capacity building session for women beneficiaries of Potou Gueye in partnership with USAID

In 2022, women represented 80% of the agricultural workforce in Senegal (ICR Facility). Made up of 1000 women, the Société Coopérative des Productrices Maraîchères (SOCOPA) of Potou Gueye, in the Louga region, is one of these groups responsible for hundreds of tonnes of plant and animal products consumed throughout Senegal.

To improve the climate resilience, productivity and financial autonomy of this cooperative, Our Legacy Foundation provided it with a greenhouse cultivation infrastructure in 2024. In parallel with this support, Our Legacy Foundation is part of a perspective of sustainability of the groups it supports, by ensuring the strengthening of the technical and managerial capacities of their members.

Thus, in collaboration with USAID Entrepreneurship & Investment, it organized on December 10 and 11, 2024, intensive training sessions to introduce women to project structuring, financial management for the development of their activities, financial education (budget and savings) and marketing.

“Many of us were unaware of the impact of social spending on our activities. The session allowed us to understand the usefulness of good financial management and the use of tools for our accounting,” underlined Fatou Diop, Vice-President of the cooperative.
