About

the Foundation

Economic emergence is a WOMAN

The Foundation was established by Oulimata Sarr, driven by her passion for empowering women and girls. With over 30 years of experience in the development field, she has chosen to personally support women and girls in strengthening their capacities, accessing markets, and providing grants.

Her slogan is ‘economic emergence is a woman’. She firmly believes that Africa’s inclusive and sustainable economic growth will necessitate empowering the majority of the population—women. To achieve this, concrete actions must be taken to unleash the potential of women and girls, and create a lasting positive impact on their lives.

Economic empowerment

The Foundation identifies agricultural value chains where women represent the majority. Through its support programme, the Foundation seeks to enhance the capabilities of women in Senegal and across West Africa in processing and marketing techniques for agri-food products. The training provided enables a multiplier effect through training of trainers.

In addition to capacity building, the Foundation supplies women’s groups with the essential raw materials and equipment needed for the production of agri-food products. This support continues until they gain access to growing markets.

Climate and Resilience

The Foundation supports groups of women farmers in strengthening their productivity and resilience to climate change. In partnership with experts, the Foundation works to identify agricultural techniques as well as drought-resistant seeds. In collaboration with extension services, the Foundation supports women producers with climate-resilient seeds, in order to improve their productivity, and therefore, nutrition in their communities.

Technology as a solution

The Foundation is convinced that technological innovation allows women to have increased access to markets through digital technology. Better water management, use of solar energy and use of drones increase their productivity and reduce the burden of  work. The Foundation’s objective is to provide women’s groups with technological innovations that improve their agricultural production and processing.
