Formed in 1994, the Federation of Market Gardeners of Niayes (FPMN) of Sangalkam set up a college which today brings together 90 women working in various agricultural sectors.
With the aim of strengthening the financial autonomy and productivity of these women, Our Legacy Foundation equipped them, in July 2024, with a 500m2 greenhouse and a solar pump to ensure agricultural activity all year round, optimize their costs and boost their returns. Thanks to these infrastructures, these brave women performed well during their first cucumber campaign with more than a ton of yield during the winter.
With a view to supporting this group’s ambition to produce more and sell better, the Foundation organized, in collaboration with USAID Entrepreneurship & Investment, on December 12 and 13, 2024, capacity building sessions for these women. At the end of these sessions, they felt they could further distinguish their income, savings and investments, while committing to conquering the market using the knowledge acquired in product development and digital marketing.
